Lighthouses are lonely places. Abandoned lighthouses are the loneliest of the lonely. This derelict lighthouse off the coats of South Wales can be reached at low tide.

Its naked, bolted ribs are reminiscent of a design by Lebbeus Woods, the inspiration behind the setting of Alien III and the source of the plagiary in 12 Monkeys. added on 2007-12-10

This was a project I briefly worked on, since the lighting was being done by the set designers I worked for. The idea was to take a magnificent disused steel plant and turn it into a park and concert venue.

If only Bethlehem PA would do something like this with the impressive disused plant which dominates the town. added on 2007-12-10

Nothing looks quite as sinister as a giant rusting ship being broken up like a rotting beached whale. Linked to here is the Greenpeace campaign highlighting the fact that this incredibly toxic process is being done on the beaches of poor countries like Bangladesh. added on 2007-12-10
