"For SS09 Viktor and Rolf offered us a taste of what fashion week could possibly become by presenting their collection for Spring/Summer 09 via their website featuring just one model – Shalom Harlow.

Filmed last week, it took 50 technicians to film the runway show which used multiple footage of Shalom Harlow donning various outfits from the collection including three dresses embellished with Swarovski crystals.

The benefits of switching to an online show were clear; low costs and no issues with invitations and seating. The benefits for us? We have to admit it was great to have the cameras zooming in and out allowing us to view the clothing in all its glory. It really was just about the clothes, there were no front row celebs stealing the limelight.

The downside? It was all a bit impersonal, there’s no backstage action and no impromptu one on one interviews with the designers." added on 2008-10-03

"A range of tables and chairs transformed into clothing (slipcovers became dresses, chairs were folded into attache case and a round table became a skirt). The models serenely picked up the furniture, put them on and walked off.

"The project had nothing to do with furniture," he says. "It was all about the moment of trying to leave your home at a time of war. The living room was supposed to be like somebody's wardrobe. How you could hide your possessions and carry them with you? Partly it's from my background - I'm from Cyprus, which is a divided place - and partly because of Kosovo."

"Could it be true? Rumours flying around Paris fashion week claim that Kate Winslet is set to play Dame Vivienne Westwood in an upcoming biopic of the designer. Its such a perfect role for Kate that we're kicking ourselves for not thinking about it before.

"The opening of this retrospective exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has flown surprisingly under the radar for being so close to New York City. Curated by the French costume historian Florence Müller, the emphasis is on the dialogue between Yves Saint Laurent and art, both in terms of considering his garments as actual art objects and in recognition of his inspirations found in art. The display is broken into four themes: sketches, gender-bending, color usage and lyricism. The exhibition includes over 160 looks spanning his entire career culled from over 5000 ensembles and 15000 objects belonging to the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent.

The museum’s website, while lacking a bit in object photographs, does have a few video clips along with brief biographical notes on his life.
